I remember places by their sounds. A film score, footsteps beside the lake, the particular way someone laughs.

Music is my way into most conversations, but rarely where they end. I enjoy cinema, thoughtful architecture and making a good meal without consulting a recipe. There is something appealing about an afternoon with just enough of a plan to get us started.

Ask me which film has the best opening scene and we may be talking for a while. I enjoy an opinion offered with enthusiasm rather than certainty. There is room in a good afternoon for a lively debate and a peaceful view of the water.
