The curtain rises, the conversation continues. I like a sense of occasion, without taking ourselves too seriously.

Theatre has been a constant thread in my life, from spare experimental stages to the pleasure of a beautifully told old story. Away from it, I am happiest in a gallery or around a table with room for another opinion. I appreciate warmth, good humour and a little spontaneity.

I often leave a performance wanting to compare notes with someone who saw it differently. That is part of the pleasure. Agreement is lovely, but a thoughtful disagreement, followed by a shared laugh, can be even better.
